5 Fantasy Book Series That Need Film Adaptations

Featuring dinosaurs, supernatural powers, gunslingers and corruption. Which titles would you add?

I’ve been watching favourites over the past few weeks. Hunger Games, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter.. my partner refuses to watch Twilight and I can’t say I’d put myself through the mess that is Divergent so it got me thinking- which fantasy series would I want to see adapted? Here’s what I landed on…

The Bone Season- Samantha Shannon

Okay Shannon hasn’t finished writing this unbelievable brain child and I’m only two books deep myself but already I know it’s going to become a lifetime favourite for me. I also love that it’s partially in London, even though I’m English born and bred I don’t often enjoy movies set here but I know this will shatter the glass ceiling on my expectations.

Otherworld Series- Kirsten Miller & Jason Segel

I’ve been silently hoping this one will be picked up soon. I mean.. it’s co written by Jason Segel so he must have an in right? Maybe after the third and final instalment- which by the way I CANNOT wait for! Think Ready Player One but with higher stakes, original content (no stolen pop culture references here) better world building and more developed characters.

The Legend Trilogy – Marie Lu

These were the first books I read from Lu, Amazon recommended them to me shortly after finishing The Hunger Games trilogy and I was engrossed. Yes it is pretty typical of a YA dystopian romance, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see it on the big screen. In fact The Hollywood Reporter mentioned again in July 2018 that a movie is in the works but I’m yet to see anything concrete…

Extinction Trials- Susan M Wilson

I love Jurassic Park as much as The Hunger Games so an amalgamation of the two is an ideal movie scenario! I cannot wait to read Rebel and finish out the series this year.

The Dark Tower- Stephen King

If you’ve ever watched the film, DISREGARD that shit show! TDT will never be done justice without a feature length film per book. I’ll spend my life hoping someone fulfils this dream of mine.

Would you like to see any of these books adapted?

What would you add to this list?

Let’s discuss..
