September Wrap-up & Book Haul

Book hauls, confessions and what I read in September

Newsflash! I am a lazy blogger. I may not seem it but that’s only thanks to the wonder of a good schedule. Most of the posts you’ll see on An Average Life were written weeks or sometimes months before they are published. I’m not sure I’ve ever written and posted on the same day, I simply cannot be trusted to finish what I start!

Now I love blog hopping around wrap-up posts, WWWs, Book hauls and the like. Every time I read these I think- I should do this- and I neeeever get around to it.

Well this month I have! I’d love to say I’ll do it regularly but I know damn well I won’t. So for my first ever wrap-up, read on to find out about my Average Life in September..

What I Read:

I signed up to the Sequel September readathon run by Kathy at booksandmunches with the intention of finishing 4 sequels, of those I finished 3:

The Mime Order – Bone Season book two by Samantha Shannon

Perfect – Flawed book two by Cecelia Ahern

The Twelve – The Passage book two by Justin Cronin

I also signed up to NetGalley! Being totally new to this I thought I’d better wait until I reached 1000 Twitter followers and had atleast a month of regular blog scheduling under my belt. As soon as I did I hit register! I’ve been approved for 4 books so far, 2 of which I read in September:

In Her Shadow – NetGalley eARC by Mark Edwards
inhershadowmarkedwards
Inhuman Resources – NetGalley eARC by Pierre Lemaitre

inhumanresources

5 books in a month is a pretty small accomplishment for me but I’ve let myself off the hook since two of those were tomes and I’d only just returned to full time work. Which brings me to..

New Job!

On 3rd September I began my new career. Goodbye cruel world of retail! After 7 years each of management in a supermarket then a fashion store I can tell you I am NOT sorry to have left the retail sector.
I can’t tell you too much about my new role but my title is Forward Planning Coordinator and I manage the supply and demand of materials required to build aircraft for countries around the globe. Its interesting, complicated and exciting! I’m loving it so far.
